- 36 regular Oreo cookies.
- 8 ounces cream cheese softened.
- 12 ounces red candy melts or red melting chocolate.
- 18 mini pretzel sticks broken in half.
- Green candy melts green M&M’s, or green fondant for the leaves.
- 1 teaspoon vegetable shortening or coconut oil optional.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Add the Oreo cookies to a food processor and pulse until finely crushed. Alternatively, place the cookies in a sealed bag and crush them with a rolling pin.
Add the softened cream cheese and mix until a thick dough forms.
Scoop about 1 tablespoon of the mixture and roll it into a ball.
Gently flatten the top and bottom of each ball to create an apple shape. Press a small indentation into the top.
Place the shaped Oreo balls on the prepared baking sheet and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Melt the red candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl in 20–30-second intervals, stirring after each interval. Add shortening or coconut oil if the coating is too thick.
Dip each chilled Oreo ball into the melted red candy coating. Use a fork to remove it and let the excess coating drip back into the bowl.
Place the coated Oreo balls back on the parchment paper.
Insert half of a mini pretzel stick into the top of each apple to create the stem.
Add a small green candy, green fondant leaf, or green icing decoration beside each pretzel stem.
Allow the coating to set completely before serving or storing.
-
Store the Apple Oreo Balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4–5 days.
-
Freeze them in a freezer-safe container for up to 2 months.
-
Use regular Oreo cookies rather than Double Stuf for a firmer mixture.
-
Keep the Oreo balls chilled while dipping to help them maintain their shape.
