- 1 prepared pizza dough store-bought or homemade
- 1 cup barbecue sauce your favorite brand
- 1½ cups shredded cooked chicken grilled or rotisserie
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup red onion thinly sliced
- ¼ cup fresh cilantro chopped (optional)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil for brushing the crust
- Optional: ½ cup smoked gouda or cheddar for extra flavor
- Optional toppings: sliced jalapeños bell peppers, sweet corn
Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven while it heats.
Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness. Transfer to a baking sheet or pizza peel lined with parchment paper.
Brush the edges of the dough with olive oil for a golden, crispy crust.
Spread the barbecue sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
Top with shredded chicken, distributing it evenly over the sauce.
Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the chicken, followed by red onion slices and any other desired toppings.
Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the crust is golden brown.
Remove from oven and let cool slightly. Sprinkle with fresh cilantro before slicing and serving.
