- 2 slices of sourdough bread or bread of choice
- 2 tablespoons butter softened
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese or 2–3 slices
- ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese optional for extra stretch
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder optional, for extra flavor
Prepare the Bread: Spread butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread. If using garlic powder, mix it into the butter before spreading.
Assemble the Sandwich: Place one slice of bread, butter-side down, in a heated pan over medium-low heat. Layer the cheddar and mozzarella cheese on top, then cover with the second slice of bread, butter-side up.
Cook Slowly: Let the sandwich cook for about 3–4 minutes, pressing lightly with a spatula until the bottom is golden brown. Flip carefully and cook for another 2–3 minutes until the cheese is fully melted and the other side is crispy.
Serve and Enjoy: Remove from heat, let cool slightly, then slice and serve with potato soup or your favorite side.
