Ingredients
  

  • 1 loaf French bread or brioche cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 16 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 2 cups fresh raspberries
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • Butter for greasing dish
  • Maple syrup and whipped cream for serving

Instructions
 

  • Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish. Arrange half the bread cubes in the dish.
  • In a bowl, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla, and lemon zest until smooth.
  • Dollop half the cream cheese mixture over bread. Scatter 1 cup raspberries on top.
  • Add remaining bread cubes, then remaining cream cheese mixture and raspberries.
  • In a large bowl, whisk eggs, milk, cream, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Pour evenly over casserole.
  • Cover tightly and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Bake uncovered for 45-55 minutes until golden and set.
  • Let rest 10 minutes. Serve with maple syrup and whipped cream.
