- 1 loaf French bread or brioche cut into 1-inch cubes
- 16 oz cream cheese softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- 2 cups fresh raspberries
- 8 large eggs
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- Butter for greasing dish
- Maple syrup and whipped cream for serving
Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish. Arrange half the bread cubes in the dish.
In a bowl, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla, and lemon zest until smooth.
Dollop half the cream cheese mixture over bread. Scatter 1 cup raspberries on top.
Add remaining bread cubes, then remaining cream cheese mixture and raspberries.
In a large bowl, whisk eggs, milk, cream, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Pour evenly over casserole.
Cover tightly and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Bake uncovered for 45-55 minutes until golden and set.
Let rest 10 minutes. Serve with maple syrup and whipped cream.
