Ingredients
- 1 can 8-count refrigerated large biscuits (e.g., Grands), cut into pieces
- 1 pound breakfast sausage cooked and crumbled
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 6 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Cut the biscuits into small pieces and spread them evenly in the bottom of the baking dish.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and crumbled; remove and reserve the sausage, leaving some grease in the pan.
- Sprinkle the cooked sausage evenly over the biscuit pieces, then top with shredded cheddar cheese.
- In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, 1/2 cup milk, salt, and pepper, then pour this mixture evenly over the sausage and biscuits.
- To make the gravy, whisk flour into the hot sausage grease over medium heat and cook for 1–2 minutes, then slowly whisk in 2–3 cups milk until smooth and thickened; season with salt and pepper.
- Pour the prepared gravy evenly over the entire casserole.
- Bake for 35–45 minutes, or until the casserole is puffed, set in the center, and golden on top.
- Let rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing and serving warm.
